Proterro photobioreactor cultivates photosynthetic microorganismsDec 25, 2011 The Proterro solid-state photobioreactor provides a unique, modular, low-cost cultivation environment that supports a high cell density, continuous process for sugar production, which is the feedstock for biofuel or chemical production.
Biosynthetic Secretory PathwayMay 19, 2011 This video shows the path of membrane proteins from the ER to the plasma membrane. This video is from: Essential Cell Biology, 3rd Edition Alberts, Bray, Hopkin, Johnson, Lewis, Raff, Roberts, & Walter ISBN: 978-0-8153-4129-1
Biosynthetic corneaAug 28, 2010 The video contains a shortened version of one of the ten surgeries with biosynthetic corneas that took place as part of the study. The surgery begins with the patient's own damaged tissue being removed and the biosynthetic cornea is then moulded into the right shape and inserted. Finally the new cornea is attached with stitches. The surgery was performed and filmed by Professor Per Fagerholm. Video editing by Dr Neil Lagali.
Carnitine biosynthesis and transportJun 01, 2011 www.carnitinaofficialsite.it Biosynthesis In nature, carnitine is present in all the cells of the body where it carries out essential functions. The greatest concentration of carnitine is found in skeletal and cardiac muscle tissues. 75% of the carnitine contained in the human body is diet derived (from meat, fish and dairy products) and 25% is synthesised in the body, mainly in the liver and the kidneys, and to a lesser extent in the brain, starting from two amino acids, lysine and methionine. These two amino acids are converted to gamma-butyrobetaine which, in the presence of gamma-butyrobetaine hydroxylase, is converted to carnitine. Although the heart and skeletal muscles are the tissues richest in carnitine, they cannot synthesise it as they do not have gamma-butyrobetaine hydroxylase, which catalyses the last phase of the biosynthetic process. Transport Carnitine passes from the blood to other body tissues through a process of active cell transport. As of today, two carnitine transporters have been identified, positioned on cell membranes: the OCTN transporters ( OCTN1 and OCTN2) and the ATB transporters.

Last Scenario Boss 18: Biosynthetic MutantJun 25, 2011 Don't look at him too closely or you'll notice an unsettling familiarity. Biosynthetic Mutant - Boss of Biorite Facility Biosynthetic Mutant: 5000 HP, 180 MP, very high STR and PDF; Dark Agony: mag., all-hit, ~90 HP, heals him for ~150 HP/drains?; Pounding Fist: phys., ~350 HP; Mass Attack: phys., all-hit, ? HP; Steal: Vitality Capsule Hypercam started to cooperate, and I can theoretically record audio output now. This record comes without sound, though, I had to delete the audio track as it was extremely out of sync. This is a purposely weak boss, as you fight him in a timed mission with some space and enemies between the last save point and exit. He has quite strong physical attacks, though, so P-Shields are important. His PDF is really high, but he has almost no MDF. He is vulnerable to restoration and fire damage. I didn't remember this, and I was lucky to have at least one level 2 spellcard to attack him. If you are really in a hurry, you can kill him in a single turn using purple herbs and a Heal cast, but under normal circumstances, that'd be an utter waste of ressources. It would probably have been hilarious to cast Regen on him, but like all good ideas, this didn't occur to me before long after the battle. I didn't steal from him because I decided not to use any capsules in this playthrough. 01:27 This was meant to target the mutant. Fail. What is Porphyria?? (The Disease)Jan 21, 2012 The porphyrias are inherited or acquired disorders of certain enzymes in the heme biosynthetic pathway (also called porphyrin pathway).Deficiency in the enzymes of the porphyrin pathway leads to insufficient production of heme. This is, however, not the main problem; most enzymes - even when less functional - have enough residual activity to assist in heme biosynthesis. The largest problem in these deficiencies is the accumulation of porphyrins, the heme precursors, which are toxic to tissue in high concentrations.
